SMASH Sweet Chilli Jam Recipe

If you enjoy a Sweet Chilli Sauce but don't like the thought of eating all the sugar in it, SMASH Chilli Jam is a great alternative for you. You will get maximum flavour and heat, but without the damaging ingredients that come in many store bought chilli sauces.

SMASH Chilli Jam is quick and easy to make - as always, and once you've made it, you will never go back to buying store bought chilli sauce again. You can adapt the spiciness of the jam to suit your own preference. This is hot!!

SMASH Chilli Jam FREE Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 60g Red Chillis
  • 125ml Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 120ml Water
  • 1 Clove Garlic
  • 10g Cornflour
  • 2 Tablespoons Water
  • 50g Xylitol
  • Salt to taste

You will need:

  • weighing scales
  • small saucepan
  • measuring spoons
  • sharp knife
  • chopping board
  • cup
  • fork, teaspoon
  • wooden spoon
  • clean sterilised jar
  • nutribullet/food processor
  • oven gloves

Instructions:

  • Chop the ends of the chillies. If you like your chilli sauces very spicy, leave the seeds in. Chop the chillies into large chunks
  • Peel the garlic and chop into 3 pieces
  • Put the chillies, xylitol, apple cider vinegar, 120mls water and garlic into the small nutribullet container and blitz for about 3 seconds. (If you don’t have a nutribullet, chop the chilli and garlic very finely and put in the saucepan with the rest of the ingredients
  • Remove blade and slowly pour into the saucepan
  • Bring to the boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the liquid has reduced by half
  • Combine cornflour with the water in a cup and mix until lump free, add to saucepan slowly
  • Simmer for approximately 1 minute or until thick
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly
  • Put a teaspoon into your glass jar and scald the jar and its lid with boiling water. Using oven gloves, pour the water out and immediately pour in the chilli jam.
  • Seal the jar immediately and then allow to cool
  • Store in the fridge for up to a month
