I'm elevating a classic favoruite with a nutritious twist—SMASH Spaghetti Bolognese.
This recipe isn't just about delicious, hearty flavours; it's packed with extra veggies to support gut health and boost your immune system. Perfect for a family dinner or meal prep, the SMASH version of Spaghetti Bolognese contains crunchy pepper to add an extra bite to you dinner.

Ingredients:
- 400g Lean Mince
- 150g Onion
- 160g Mushrooms
- 15g Coconut Oil
- 160g Red Pepper
- 160g Orange/Yellow Pepper
- 160g Green Pepper
- 500ml Passata
- 2 Tablespoon Italian Herbs
- Salt & Black Pepper to taste
- 1 Teaspoon Chilli Flakes & Garlic Clove (optional)
You will need:
- Weighing scales
- Measuring spoons
- Frying pan
- Chopping board
- Sharp knife
Instructions:
- Heat the coconut oil in the frying pan and add the mince to the pan once the oil is hot
- Add the Italian seasoning, salt & black pepper, (chilli flakes and garlic if you are using them) and stir together
- Slice the onion finely and add to the pan. Stir in
- Slice the mushrooms and add to the frying pan and stir in.
- Cook for about 10 minutes and then turn the heat down, add in the passata, mix together and simmer for 2-3 minutes
- Whilst the mince is simmering, chop the peppers into thin slices and add to the pan
- Mix altogether and simmer for a further 2-3 minutes
- Serve with spinach, 60g quinoa, courgetti or carrotti when in fat burning mode.
Notes:
Be careful when choosing Italian seasonings as some companies put sugar into their blended mixes. The one that I recommend is a Swartz one as it is just natural herbs.
